I finished this sweet custom order for a rasta fringe bikini top and I've also been working on some little extras for the shop. I guess every one's getting ready for summer by showing off their One Love pride!

Simple outfits and bare feet help me beat the heat. It's still extremely hot here in southern California, and I find myself wiping sweat off of my face every few seconds. How's a girl supposed to feel pretty in heat like this? I keep my confidence by finding a couple simple pieces of comfortable clothing that stand out and grabbing a big, floppy hat. A couple of my go-to threads are my DIY high shorts and my big button-up, collared shirt. I didn't care for the whole "mom jean" trend at first, and even thought it was kind of silly, but what can I say, it grew on me. I never really thought about owning a pair until one day, while shopping at the Goodwill it sounded like a fun idea to cut up a few of the old pairs of jeans hanging in there. So, I bought a pair, cut them up and bleached some of the color out of them. I love their new color, and I even though I cut them at kind of an awkward length I don't think it really matters. I've learned to appreciate the mom jeans and actually really like the way they fit on me and how they look. There's always something cool about being a little old school.

With just a little bit of work on the jeans, this outfit cost no more than twenty dollars. (If I had put on some shoes it would have added on to the price a little bit, haha.) There are so many good reasons to shop thrift, I love the things that I find and how they inspire me.

The first of my upcycling projects. I've hand-dyed some old jeans and have a couple more ideas in mind for more recreated products. I had so much fun making these, I've already pulled out a bag of old clothes to dye and make into something new. I also photographed my dying process for those who wish to make similar shorts, check it out. Plus, I'll be posting a preview of some of the jewelry I've been making in the next few days, which I'll put up for sale as soon as I get the proper shipping supplies to mail them out. summer daze

I have been in a total summer daze. Not getting dressed, skipping showers and eating junk food. I blame it on the heat! Thankfully I live less than eleven miles away from the beach, which is always up to twenty degrees cooler than it is here. I could never get tired of life at the beach, my puppers loves it too. Despite my recent laziness I am still working on accomplishing some personal goals, a little more slowly than I would have liked to. But I am definitely enjoying my summer, and hopefully I'll have some new stuff up in my shop soon! I've started working on new additions to my shop for summer. There will be lots of fringe, varieties of colors and plenty of beachwear. All items will be for sale on my shop and made to order to your size and specifications. This is just the beginning:

As far as the personal stuff goes, I'm going to be making a lot of positive changes in my life which will hopefully affect my products positively as well. I'm really getting into holistic health including yoga, use of herbs and natural substances for bodily care, healthy eating and meditation. Already, this lifestyle is incredibly addicting and I plan to continue with the good habits. I will be keeping this blog undated on all of the healthy goings on in my life. Keep in touch.

So, I know I made this blog and then stopped working on it, but I can explain! I've been enjoying the beach and hanging with friends, gathering some of summers inspiration. But now I'd like to get back on track. I'm still not completely happy with the way this blog looks, but I'm going to try to post almost everyday until I find a way to make it look the way I want it to. If anyone has any tips or suggestions let me know! I've created a new about page for my shop which I am very happy with right now. I've also updated my facebook and tumblr pages. Plus I've mainly been working on new designs for my shop, I put a few up today and I'm very happy with the outcome! I'll continue to work on designs as my mind is racing with ideas, but no one will ever be able to take me away from the beach:

 Another new love of mine is riding along the Ojai Valley Bike Trail. I can ride north to the post office and south to the beach. I might just sell my car :)

the beginning

I'm still working on getting this blog setup, and still just starting out. I'll start off by saying my name is Neena Noel, and I am a young hobbyist/artisan. I have my own shop on Etsy called Motavations, where I sell handmade works of mine. Mostly I'm currently just working on selling bikini tops for the Spring/Summer seasons. All of the bikini tops in my shop were designed by me 100%, so I've really been enjoying showcasing and selling those projects. However, I do also make many other things including feather earrings, hemp jewelry, crocheted jewelry, shirts, scarves, etc. I hope to get some of my other projects up for sale for the Summer, but for now I'm just working with what I've already got up in shop.
